The obverse shows an ornament in the manner of Bukhara gold embroidery, in silver on brown and golden grounds, with the coat of arms of the Republic of Uzbekistan above it. The reverse shows the Registan historical and architectural ensemble in Samarkand within an intricate frame, and the words «ЭЛЛИК СЎМ».
A banknote of the Central Bank of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the first series of the sum, the 1994 design. The most interesting security features are a localised watermark with the coat of arms of the Republic of Uzbekistan on the broad white margin at the right; a security thread pressed across the whole width of the note with the repeated white text «ЎЗБЕКИСТОН», its letters alternating upright and slanted; and a seven-digit number with a two-letter Latin series.
The Uzbek sum is collected by design: the first series of 1994, the individual notes of 1997–2019 and the present Archaeological Sites series of 2021–2022 are different designs, each with its own sizes, colours and subjects. UNC condition means the note has never circulated: no folds, no wear, no soiling, even corners — just as it left the press.
The VPcoins catalogue features banknotes from many countries, making it easy to build a collection by geography or by subject.
